History :
Giridih district was part of the Hazaribagh district earlier. The towns in
the district are : Barkisaraiya, Bermo,
Chandrapura, Dugda, Giridih, Gumia, Isri, Jaridih Bazar, Mahesh Mundi,
Phusro. The blocks in the district are : Bagodar, Bengabad,Bermo, Birni,
Dhanwar, Deori, Dumri, Gande, Gawan, Giridih, Gumia, Isri, Jamua, Jaridih,
Kasmar, Nawadih, Petarbar Pirtanr and tisri.

Communication

Industry : Mica
and coal are found in abundance in the district.There are some mica based
industry in the district. The Indian
Explosives also have a unit is Gumia. DVC has a thermal power station in the
district.
