History
: In 1991 the district of Singhbhum was bifurcated to form Pashchimi and
Purbi Singhbhum. Besides the district headquarter of Chaibasa the other
towns in the district are : Adityapur, Chakradharpur, Chiria, Gua, Jhinkpani,
Kharsawan, Kiriburu,
Noamundi, Seaikela and Sini. The blocks in the district are : Adityapur (Gamharia),
Bandgaon, Chakradharpur, Chaibasa, Chandil,
Gobindpur, Goilkera, Ichagarh, Jagannathpur, Jhinkpani, Kharsawan, Khuntpani,
Kuchai, Kumardungi, Majhgaon, Manjhari, Manoharpur, Noamundi, Nimdih,
Seraikela, Sonua, Tantnagar, Tonto The district has some 2016 villages.

Communication
: Roads connecting to nearby areas are there. Chakradharpur railway
station is on the main Howrah-Mumbai route. Ranchi is the nearest airport

: The Jhikpani cement plant and the Seraikela Glass Factory at Kandra are
