Unutilisation of fund in the drought affected state 70% of the fund of the centrally sponsored schemes in the state remains unutilized. This is despite declaring the state as the drought prone for the consecutive three years. DPAP-Drought Prone Area Programme is a long term centrally sponsored schemes for the drought affected region in the country. Jharkhand state has been unable to utilize the amount provided for this purpose. After the information of the state and up to the financial year 2004-05, a total of Rs.9683.17lakh was provided under this scheme to the state. The latter is able to spent only Rs.2984.25 lakh, ie.only 30% of the fund .During this period only 499 projects out of the sanctioned 2072 projects under the DPAP were completed!
