Rally to improve health services
The cycle rally was organized by AID to
highlight the irregularities and poor delivery system of the government in
the district. The huge procession that started from the Community Technical
College, Meral culminated in a meeting that took place at Pitamber Community
Hall in Garhwa.
The speakers brought out the plight of the
poor who are forced to take the help of the local quacks in absence of the
poor health delivery system of the government at the Primary health center
or the sub centers.
They submitted 14 point memorandum to the
Civil Surgeon to highlight the irregularities and the corruption taking
place in these health centers.
People have planned to hold similar kind of
rally at the state level if the district officials fail to meet their demand
submitted. Such rally may take the shape of the dharna, protest and hunger
strike as well.
Some of the demands mentioned in the
memorandum are:
-
Immediate implementation of the schemes
provided in the NHRM.
-
Appointment of women doctors at PHC to be
made compulsory.
-
To assure the field visit of ANM, male
health workers and doctors at these village health centers.
