In the rural
regions, due to lack of sanitation facilities, the open fields are used
for defecation. This is one of the prime carriers for spread of disease in
the regions. The lack of privacy for girls is also one of the deterrent
factors from enabling them to attend the schools. In order to provide a
proper atmosphere at the school there is an absolute need to construct
school buildings with the
proper sanitation and drinking water facilities. It is also important to
educate the community on the usage and maintenance of these structures,
thus this forms part of the program.
During the current year 126 toilets were constructed out of which 20 were
exclusively for school children.
