Along with
the Day schools Pre school for the toddlers is also functioning in the
region. This concept is very new in the rural areas as they donot send
their children alone to schools even at the
age of 6 -8. Further to understand the play school techniques and the
toddlers being exposed to play way methods is all very new to the region.
The initial response was lukewarm and from the second year onwards the
influx of the children in the age group of 3-5 is good in these centres.
800 toddlers attended these centers.
An array of games, puzzles, toys and colourful crayons and drawing objects
all form part of their daily routine. The children are also taught to sing
and dance and inculcate positive attitude towards education.
The Pre School for the toddlers is directed towards preparation of the
children to join the mainstream school. Furthermore, female children are
constantly engaged to look after their siblings. Now, due to the
establishment of the pre-school, the girls and mothers in
the region have respite from the drudgery of baby-sitting.
